Imeasure is an online energy and carbon management tool for households to monitor building energy performance developed by academics at the University of Oxford. While Imeasure is an excellent tool for households to measure their building(s) energy use, the data you provide can also have the potential to contribute to further research and initiatives for assessing energy use and saving. This policy explains what types of personal and home information are gathered and stored when you use imeasure and how this information will be used.

On this website, you will be asked to provide certain types of information to enable the calculation of your home?s building energy use and carbon emissions. This information may be stored electronically or manually. By supplying this information you will be consenting to the use and storage of this information for the reasons for which it was provided.

(1) What information do we collect?

We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal data:

(a) information about your computer and about your visits to and use of this website, such as your IP address, geographical location, browser type, referral source, length of visit and number of page views;

(e) send to you carbon club notifications and/or newsletter, which will be sent by the administrator of the carbon club if you indicate you wish to receive these;

(f) share your profile data with carbon club administrators if you indicate to give them access to this information.

(g) enable our licensees, business partners and affiliates to support us in doing the above things or to enable them to provide you with information, products or services which we or they feel may be of interest to you. These parties will not be able to contact you unless you have given permission for them to do so and you may unsubscribe at any time through managing your profile or clicking the unsubscribe option in the email. As regards other third parties, we may provide statistical information about our users - but it will not be possible to identify any individual user from this as all information will be anonymised. Furthermore, we will not give your personal information (e.g. email addresses) to third parties;

(h) deal with enquiries and complaints made by or about you relating to the website;

(i) perform contractual obligations that we owe;

(j) allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so;

(k) notify you about changes to our service;

You may close your imeasure account at anytime and if you would like us to delete your data record then please contact us in writing to make the request and we will delete your account within 30 days of receiving your request. You can take a csv file export of your meter reading data at any time if you want a record of the data you entered into imeasure.

(4) Other disclosures

In addition to the disclosures reasonably necessary for the purposes identified elsewhere in this privacy policy, we may disclose information about you:

(a) to the extent that we are required to do so by law;

(b) in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings;

(c) in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk); and

(d) to the purchaser (or prospective purchaser) of any business or asset which we are (or are contemplating) selling.

(e) to the University of Oxford or Isis Innovation Limited, which is owned by the University

Except as provided in this privacy policy, we will not provide your information to third parties.

(5) International data transfers

Information that we collect may be stored and processed in and transferred between any of the countries in which we operate in order to enable us to use the information in accordance with this privacy policy.

If you are in the European Union, information which you provide may be transferred to, stored at and processed in countries including the United States and Japan, which do not have data protection laws equivalent to those in force in the European Union. You expressly agree to such transfers, storing or processing.

(6) Security of your personal data

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. Of course, data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet. You are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. We recommend you use a unique password and username for this website. All password information will be encrypted and we will not ask you for your password.

We may update this privacy policy from time-to-time by posting a new version on our website. You should check this page occasionally to ensure you are happy with any changes.

You may instruct us to provide you with any personal information we hold about you. Provision of such information may be subject to the payment of a fee (currently fixed at £10.00).
